Typical Scheme for Auto Synchrosing of 2 DG Sets

Introduction:
Following sections describe the typical scheme for auto synchronizing of 2 nos. DG Sets to a common bus in the plant. The synchronizing scheme described can be envisaged for a building / hotel or Industry. The plant equipment's are-
1. One no. Transformer incomer + breaker
2. Two nos. DG sets + breaker
3. Plant load feeders.

Under normal conditions plant will be operate on SEB (State Electricity Board)Transformer feeder. When SEB supply fails, the 2 DG sets will runs automatically and synchronized in predetermine time.

Scope of work envisaged in the scheme are:
a) Mains failure detection
b) Starting of all 2 nos. DG sets after mains failure.
c) Sequential synchronization of generators to the bus with a single auto synchronizing relay.
d) Interlocks required for safe operations of the plant.
e) Auto / Manual facility.

Components of the System:
Panel mounted components for 2 nos. DG sets:
a) Auto synchronizing relay - 1 no.
b) Auto / Manual switch - 1 no.
c) PT switching module - 1 no.
d) Push buttons as required
e) Position selector switch to select Master Generator - 1 no.
f)  Position selector switch to select PT in manual mode - 1 no.
g) Double voltmeter - 1 no. for manual synchronization
h) Double frequency meter- 1 no. for manual synchronization
i) Synchroscope - 1 no. for manual synchronization
j) Indicating lamps as required.
